We found Venice relatively expensive for eating. We did fall for the charms of the restauranters a couple of times as they stand in front beckoning you in. Beware! The truth is the food was overpriced and very poor, service was non existent. Alternatively, we ate in small bars which was much better value.

Get on one of the boat trips out to Murano or Burano, but make sure you time your trip so that you come back just as dusk is coming down. When you see Venice from the water all lit up its absolutely magical. Sit at the back outside with someone special, pull out a rose and she'll think you're Casanova. Presto!
